major issue with personality trait doesn't ring true.

Ok, the guy's wife died, that changed him, -but-: He's been portrayed as a cheapskate his whole adult life, the most recent example being how he wanted a smaller, cheaper RV, & was argued into the 35-foot deluxe model by his wife, (who paid for 1/2 of it!). Now he's alone, driving all over in enough RV for a family of 5, paying a HUGE fuel bill. Please!: This guy'd sell that boat immediately, & probably sell his house on the same day. Let's re-build this story on the foundation of the real man.

Doesn't the fact he didn't even get round to getting his car fixed instead of having to go to the supermarket in that oversized RV tell you something?

reply

Remember that he is using it to sleep in during his trip rather than pay for costly hotel rooms.

You don't understand Nebraskans. Contradictory though it may seem, penny-pinching and then owning and driving an RV - a very expensive thing to do - is EXACTLY the kind of thing that a lot of older, retired Nebraska men do.

But this is really just human nature. If you're looking for consistency, you have to look outside the human race.

Gas was cheaper back then. $1.67/gallon to be exact!
