The Last Movie you saw before 9/11

This is the last movie I saw in the movies before September 11th.

I never much thought about it; but I guess I would have assumed it was Planet of the Apes just because I looked forward to that movie for so long and I remember the release in mid summer 2001; but recently, while looking for a birth certificate, I went through a foot locker that I gave to my parents 4 years ago and I found a ticket stub for The Curse of the Jade Scorpion - from a movie theater in the Greenwich Village section of Manhattan on September 7, 2001. I thought this was weird because I never was the type to save movie stubs.

I guess this fact is poignant just because movies are a form of escapism. And that it was a Woody Allen movie that I happened to see in lower Manhattan - literally walking distance from Ground Zero.

Can anyone else remember the last movie they saw before September 11, 2001.

I doubt that this question was meant for people outside the US. Since American's make up a good part of this boards demographic, I don't think that it was in poor taste to ask such a question.

As for me (living in a suburb of D.C.) I can't remember the last movie I saw before 9/11, could have been Planet of the Apes though.

However to those of us that live outside the US this isn't the milestone/watershed you think it is, it didn't change the world (unless you count US foriegn policy) and it didn't impact my life on the personal level. You would have just as much luck asking me what was the last film i saw before April 2nd or January 12 because the answer will always be "how the hell should i know?"

On the evening of September 10, 2001, I was at the Boston Film Festival and saw Steve Martin in "Novocaine". He was there and received some kind of career achievement award and spoke. I've always wondered if he had a problem getting out of town, as all flights were cancelled nationwide the next morning for several days.

i am asian and though it might not have impacted me as personally as it did americans, esp. new yorkers, still i remember where i was when i heard the news, the shock , and how i followed the developments. it was one of those before and after moments. the world was never the same again after 9/11. there are many things we do differently now as a result. i look at the news and a lot of it can be traced to 9/11. so i think it's fair to ask the question of non-americans. now to answer the question, i was working towards a big project then so i wasnt going to the movies but i think i watch more movies now - escapism, perhaps yearning for those days when the world was a little more innocent and peaceful.
