I want to go to the South so bad

Im from London, England, and for as long as I can remember I have been obsessed by the American South! Do not ask me why lol, I just am fascinated by the place. I love watching any films set down south. Always interested to hear from people down there.

My dream is to do a road trip through all the southern states, sample the food (!) and stay in a gorgeous house with a porch lol. It sounds silly, but obviously London is a world away from the country life, and although I love my city, I do dream about being from a small town where everyone knows one another etc...

Just wanted to get that out there!

Haha. This is a first! I live in Florida in a southern style town. I suggest you go to places like New Orleans,LA or Charleston,SC. Those are the best places to experience the south and it's history.

New Orleans is INCREDIBLE. Like no other city in the world. The food, the music, the artwork, the atmosphere--you'll have a blast.

The countryside around New Orleans is a good place to find on of those "houses with a porch" such as Bocage, Houmas House, etc.

Are you in northern Florida? I live I. The Tampa area and it is not southern at all ?. I loved visiting Tallahassee once. I am more for places like Tennessee's east coast for southern style kindness!

This is funny, just because I'm from NYC and moved to Florida for 3 years. I'm back in NYC and now that I want to have a family, will be moving back to Florida. I miss the weather, family, and the nice people. My Husband was shocked at how many strangers would wish him a good day haha!

Don't forget to add Savannah on your list. I love that place!!!

Bay Minette, Alabama (or anywhere along the Gulf Coast) is wonderful.
Also Biloxi, Mississippi is beautiful.
I live in Colorado now but I would move back to Alabama in a heart beat if I could bring my life with me. I am going to make my boyfriend visit the South so maybe I can convince him to move down there!

You should make the trip. Of course its not as cliche as the movies suggest but the south is a special place.
