A difficult film to watch, but an important one

The film's vivid, unapologetic depiction of the Holocaust will test a viewer's stomach. These scenes are chilling and upsetting. But the film tells a story that should not be forgotten, one of extraordinary humanity in the midst of a horrible period in history. Perhaps the tremendous act of kindness was or will be rewarded in the next life. Either way, its a film to remember.

agreed.

the sad/scary thing is people have not learned a thing from what happened. they follow mindless leaders with no objectivity.

i think most humans just resist thinking

cant argue with you at all LTUM. We see it all over the world.

As the old man in The Avengers said to Loki "There are always men like you..."

And like you said, people resist thinking.

I dont think that the majority of Germans agreed with death camps. But they let it happen. Why?? Were they just as much "prisoners of Hitler?"

I'm not smart enough to know the answer, but I know what a lemming is.

wise words. you see clearly, my friend. group think is such a dangerous thing, and allows individuals to rationalize away their accountability in the matter. i see it today with so much fervor around us right now.

...to everyone in this thread, i highly recommend RABBIT PROOF FENCE. if you have not see it, check it out.

Yes some of the moments they captured were so realistic and you can really feel what a horrific experience it was

I agree.. I think it reminds us that everyone is capable of doing kind and evil things regardless of their situation... People who you think are going to protect you leave you to starve to death in a flat and people who are quite capable of killing you go out of their way and risk their lives to save you... I like the fact that Wilm Hosenfeld was a real person, a real hero in the most unexpected place! I think Adrian Brody was brilliant in the role of Wladislaw and I truly felt his desperation towards the end of the film. Such an awful time in history to see such disregard for the value of human life (and real life was probably even more horrific than the film portrays)

I love seeing thoughtful and insightful posts like this on boards, and am disgusted by the fact that the "WORST MOVIE EVER MADE" posts have far more responses. Faceless bullies and trolls....even worse when they seem to be genuine; how can one say this is the worst film ever? Have they not seen a truly terrible movie before? Sheesh!

My high school bully STILL takes my lunch money...but damn, can he make a mean Subway sandwich.
