The scene where Icky is driving a tractor through a village was filmed at Llangynog near Bala, North Wales. In fact you can see a direction sign to Bala in the background.
Kidder's cottage looks like it's in Yorkshire though. I don't know why they couldn't find a suitable cottage in Wales for the filming.

I cannot be certain that Kidder's cottage wasn't really in Wales, but The Sons of Glyndwr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sons_of_Glyn_Dwr were fairly active in the early eighties, so I'd understand the production company's reluctance to use any property in Wales during the filming.
shareKidder's house was in Yorkshire. Specifically in Beckwithshaw, Harrogate. Bear in mind that is where the studios were, so maybe it was cheaper to film there.
