what do you think of this event?

Loved the main event between Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior. The fact that there wasn't be rematch made it sweeter since I don't think a performance like that could be repeated. Hogan showed grace by handing the belt to Warrior, hugging him, and riding off (The WWF claimed when the Hulkster did that, he took one step into immortality, hence the nickname The Immortal Hulk Hogan).

It's too bad they won't do that these days. Instead they have one guy attack
the other and try to make it shocking, but everyone expects it. I think mania 17 would have beenbetter if Austin did not turn heel. That was the worst moment for me. Also it seemed that as soon as Austin turned heel, the WWF started going down hill and hasn't gotten back up to that height yet.

Know what the problem is? Today's wrestling fan is different. They expect attacks after the match and heel turns. Like at SummerSlam, when Michaels and Hogan shook hands after the match, fans booed. Say the Bret Hart-Roddy Piper match from WMVII took place, fans would probably boo the fact Roddy threw the bell away and not hit him (They cheered at WMVII when he did that because it would've ruined a great match between the two). I miss the old days.

Somehow, it never clicked that Monsoon's claim at WrestleMania VI was the original of the "Immortal" Hulk Hogan. I thought they were merely referencing his moniker, but no, I don't believe I'd ever heard it used prior to 1990.

No, WM VI was the first time they used the claim. They needed to give the character a boost since he didn't have the title, so they started calling him The Immortal Hulk Hogan.

Interesting. I wonder what the first instance was of him being directly referred to as The Immortal Hulk Hogan.

Wrestlemania6 was the start of my wrestling carer,i started watching the wwf on sky tv in the UK about 3 months before wrestlmania6 and i personaly dont think i couldve started watchingit at a better time,i know the likes of hulk hgan and the warrior will never be the best wrestlers but as for entertainment i think this era was second to none.
I wasnt stupid about wrestling and knew it was scripted but i was actually shocked when the warrior won as i really didnt think the hulkster would loose,he stopped being the ultimate wrestling god for me that day that could never be beaten but at the same time he became 'immortal' great story telling, you americans do it like no one else thats for sure lol.

I was disappointed that my favorite wrestler SD Jones didn't have a spot on this card

At the time I was still a big Hogan fan and really didn't care for the Warrior and I wanted Hogan to win, but knew he was off to make lame movies, so it was natural for him to begrudgingly put him over by kicking out on 3 if you watch closely
