What's up with the musc?

Has anyone noticed on the Wrestlemania VI DVD that several of the wrestlers' entrance themes were clearly dubbed over? Entrance songs for Demolition, Big Bossman, Orient Express, Akeem and Dusty Rhodes were all changed! Why?

reply

More than likely it was for copyright reasons. That's the only thing that makes sense.

didnt want to pay royalties to get the music

it's interesting that some themes have been changed, being on WWE 24/7 the entrance themes from Demolition,Dusty,Akeem, and others remain as they were from back in the day.

Who would pay who royalties? Ya know Orient Express's theme was also Bull Nakano's theme aswell. Speaking of music, that Wrestlemania theme was classic(it was the theme for the next 3 WM's after)!

Well I think the reason why they are untouched on 24/7 is because WWE has the TV and most of the video rights to use the music. When DVD came out, it gave music companies and songwriters a reason to charge. Back in 1990, no one expected DVD to become what it is. So all contracts were negotiated for TV and video rights only. With DVD, its a whole new thing. that is why some TV shows music on DVD has been altered.

ive seen this and dusty rhodes came in to the 'wheel of fortune' theme song, which was really surreal.

reply

I assumed the WWE owned most of the music outright since a lot of it was composed in-house by Jim Johnston.

reply

Vince was trying to improve the quality of the show by altering the music.
