Maid in Manhattan is da same old garbage, nothing new, and it was just an attempt to make money because they put J-Lo in it. If you wanna see a good romance movie don't bother with this one, because first of all, J-Lo doesn't match witht that German actor. Secondly, this kinda story has been done too many times. Thirdly, J-Lo is not a good acttress and she's better off singing. Worst crap I have ever seen!
shareI disagree! MAID IN MANHATTAN is a charming romantic comedy. And like most romantic comedies its pretty rountine BUT thats whats wanted in these types of movies (guy meets girl - girl loses guy - guy gets girl back) just like in Pretty Woman and While You Were Sleeping... these types of movies are escapism. They deal with peoples fantasies and they don't pretend to be anything more than that. I thought Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes where wonderful together and have great chemistry. Ralph Fiennes inparticularly showed once again that his talent as an actor is limitless. And by the way... Ralph Fiennes is not german ( he portrayed a german in Shindler's List) he's british.
shareactually it´s nipping my eyes off when I see comparing MIM w/ films as Pretty Woman,... nothing against this same romantic comedy plot (i need it sometimes)
but jlo really destroyed every maybe-could-be-nice scenes and made them awkward.
Ralph had a lot to do to adjust it... and so did richardson,tucci and hoskins and did what was in their power, but y´know they ain´t film cutters :-)
keep smiling, ralph will be back with sandra bullock, that should save the day :-)
