Edmond Dantes is the name of the lead protagonist of The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. It is also the pseudonym of the screenwriter, John Hughes. It is stated that he used the pseudonym because he did not want his name associated with the finished product, as it had been rewritten so much that it no longer resembled his script at all.
