That heart would've been so riddled with infection...
...if the recipient survived the operation, he would've suffered immensely.

shareI know! I cringe every time I have to relive watching this scene.

Uggh! I know! Feeling irrationally uncomfortable by transplant organs being tossed around! How stupid of me!
(Actually, I only vaguely remember what happens in that scene; it's been a while)

Funny how they see that as comedy. But of course we're meant to forget all about the guy receiving it. Does he get another heart now? From who/where? Would they get another one in time for him to survive?
shareThe heart worked fine after the guy carrying it grabbed the electric fence. All he had to do was rinse it off and it's good as new.

But it still had the holes ZACK mentioned (the dog bit it).
shareThey'd grow shut eventually, like when someone doesn't wear an earring in their pierced ear for awhile. No leaky problems at all. Besides, there are no indications of how deep the bites are anyway. Merely a flesh wound as they say in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

Yeah, that scene was pretty ridiculous and unrealistic. As if an electric jolt could make a heart start beating OUTSIDE SOMEONE'S BODY. If there's no veins to pump blood through, the heart wouldn't be beating. As long as this movie was, the business with the heart should have been cut.

IT'S A JOKE. PEOPLE!
shareI don't think it would've been feasible to use that heart as a replacement for anyone - no WAY would the heart have been in good enough condition, or functional after what it went through.
Basically, it wasn't even a heart anymore, it was just a blob of dead organic mass that's no use to anyone. An artificial heart would've been so much better.
