Judy Davis

Am I the only one who thought Judy Davis was awful? She was terrible. And in the orange wig in the trolley cart sequence, she looked sixty something instead of twenty-two as Judy was. She doesn't resemble Garland even slightly! Davis' eyes are squinty and her face is scrawny and compared to Garland - its like chalk and cheese. Its a pity Tammy Blanchard wasn't a bigger star because common sense would tell you to let her play Judy throughout the whole film. At least Blanchard resembled her. I'm an Australian and Judy Davis is too, and we're proud of her but she is no Garland. Davis was way too old to play the role in the first place.

I think Judy Davis is a great actress but I think Judy Davis made Judy Garland look older than Vincente Minnelli played by Hugh Laurie (who was 4 years younger than Judy Davis

i agree. I dont think Judy Davis did that well in the part. I mean she was alright once Judy got into her forties, but I think Tammy should have prortrayed her throughout, at least her twenties, if not longer. Judy Davis' face is very sharp and square, and Judy's face was always softer. I was very upset with the Trolley song scene, because Judy Davis was trying to play someone who was twenty-two, and looked much too old for the part. Tammy Blanchard was brilliant as a young Judy, I thought.

You are all crazy....Judy Davis channeled Judy Garland. She was her all the way through. And, Tammy Blanchard did a fine job portraying her in her younger years. What stunned me is that I would never connect Tammy and Judy together, as even being related, but because they each presented very strong characteristics and mannerisms of Judy Garland so spot-on, they both did a terrific job.

What world are you living in?! I think she was great as Judy. Come on look how she was dressed up as Dorothy Gale. She looks like Judy. Then again that's MY opinion.

personally i thought Judy Davis did a wonderful job throughout the whole film. but if it were my choice, she would have only played the older "concert years" Judy, who she more resembled than anything else. she did a wonderful job though and portrayed garland well.

blanchard should have played Judy till the end of her MGM career.

don't take this the wrong way though. the way the movie was made was phenominal and the casting was great. including both davis and garland

i think Blanchard did an amazing job and should have played her till she left MGM as well! Davis was too old but did a fine job as the older Judy, however at times she was too skinny, espically in the A Star Is Born scenes
