My Only Criticism of Judy Davis

During the mid 1940's era, she just seemed too old looking to play Judy, who in my opinion was at the height of her beauty. Not that Judy Davis is ugly. When I watch the Trolley Song sequence I feel that she did not look a thing like Judy Garland during that period. Judy didn't start really looking old until the late 50's. But her performance makes up for that minor point.

Judy Davis made Judy Garland look older than Vincente Minnelli in Me and My Shadows but Hugh Laurie was 4 years younger than Judy Davis.

I agree, that Tammy should have played Judy Garland in that scene.

I had to look twice when Tammy Blanchard was on screen to make absolutely sure I wasn't watching one of Judy's movies! In my opinion, even though Judy Davis had me convinced she was Judy Garland, I think Tammy would have done great if they had her as Judy through the whole movie.

i thought the same thing when i seen the "trolly song". she also acted older too. but all in all i think that the casting was amazing!

To find an actress who was going to look exactly the way Judy looked in every movie is just an unrealistic expectation to put on this movie. Davis was remarkable in this film. I read that before she began filming, she watched every movie Garland made and as much concert footage as she could get her hands on and it showed...she gives me chills where she recreates scenes from A STAR IS BORN.
