Distinction between 'Extended' and 'Uncut'

I think we need some clarification here between these two terms. As another post stated, the original Miramax DVD was not "cut", in the sense that it contained the original television print of the film (minus the one transition scene). Therefore, claims that the DVD contained "horrible cuts" are inaccurate, as it contained the film as originally prepared for broadcast.

The longer version, therefore, is not uncut, it's "extended". Hopefully the upcoming DVD reissue by Echo Bridge contains this "extended" version, as we already have the TV print available.

The director's commentary even stated that some of those scenes were removed for a reason, and Alliance Atlantis may not have gotten his approval re-editing them back into the film. So hard to say what will be on the new DVD.

Correct :)

I've been reading about the upcoming Echo Bridge re-release. The amazon pre-order page lists the runtime as 188 minutes, implying it is the extended version. The Echo Bridge sell sheet doesn't specify length, but it does list the film as being in "widescreen". Which I find odd, as I thought it was shot in 1.33:1. Perhaps it's matted in that case?

The version I have (UPC786936170399) list running time as 170 minutes so I want the extended version. I'll try Amazon.
