The extraordinary Judy Davis (playing another Judy) in what was not just her best performance ever (arguably) but also the best performance ever in a tv movie/miniseries. Even Meryl Streep referred to this performance as "Nobody has put a performance on film better than Judy Davis in the Judy Garland story."
Makes me wonder, had this been a theatrical release, would Davis have won an Oscar for this performance?
She certainly would have! The Academy love their biographical films, especially ones about showbusiness. And it's really tough to argue a case for Halle Berry against the astonishing performance of Judy Davis here. A tour-de-force performance.
