Some help please..

Alright, I loved Cardcaptors when I was a kid and now I am considering buying the DVD versions. Amazon has "Cardcaptors Vol. 1-9" and "Cardcaptor Sakura Vol 1-12" (I think, could be wrong..). From what I've heard, Cardcaptor Sakura is miles better, but I would kind of prefer to get an English version. But I grew up on the Canadian dub of the show, and I've heard that things like the first episode were completely cut out (wtf is that about?!)

So basically, do the Amazon Cardcaptor DVDS go by the American dub? Are they really worth buying, or is there anyplace to purchase the version they aired here in Canada (or are they basically the same?)? Sorry for all these questions, but any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
