Gilgamesh in VIII sucked compared to Odin.

1. Knights of the Round (FFVII) - Kicks so much ASSES!!
2. Alexander (FFIX) - I love the way they made a robot have wings (and have it as holy)
3. Neo Bahamut (FFVII) - He looks the coolest and didn't have that stupid long beak that Bahamut ZERO had
4. Maduin (FFIX) - Massive bastard
5. Eden (FFVIII) - Come on, it does over 15000 damage

Dang, thats a tough question, I think it depends on the games.

For example, Shiva in FFX is one of my all time favorites, but she doesn't look as good in other games.

Alexander in FFIX looks totally majestic (yeah, FMV helps!)

The best Bahamut versions are in FFVII (specially Bahamut and Neo Bahamut) on the other hand, Bahamut in FFX sux badly, looks over saturated and exagerated.

Diablos rox in FFVIII and he is pretty much unique, and the Siren in that very same game is the best version of her kind ever (pity they haven't used her more often)

Carbuncle is possibly the cutest summon evah! <3

Ifrit in FFX looks awesome, but also in FFVIII, on the other hand, he looks like crap in FFVII and FFIX.

Leviathan in FFIX is great, same as Odin.

Knigths of the round is perhaps the most powrful one of them all, followed closely by Eden (although is hard to determine what the hell it looks like)

There are others which even though they are cool, they have been pretty much forgotten (Doomtrain, Tonberry, Cactuar, etc)

And there are others which suck totally (Tycoon comes to my mind)

ANd the "new" summons in FFXII are both useless and since they changed the names, they are doomed to oblivion in most fans.
