Just watched the scene and yes, she was an idiot. She knew at that point that Vince Vaughn fire up her husbands boat house, so he definitely is a danger. Why not just at least trying to drive through the garage door?

Agreed. I liked this as it had a creepy and uncomfortable plot, but that whole last bit made my head tilt in confusion.

Her only concern was to get her son and herself out of there safely. Hit the garage door button as soon as you get there, lock the door behind you, get into the car and start it up as well as lock the car doors from the inside.

I can forgive someone not doing all of those things, but she did none of them. I liked the son + dad combo at the end that lead to a cooked Vince Vaughn though.
