And this is why you don't date women with kids!

Ha, just kidding! Got your attention though didn't it?

You ever wonder if maybe Rick took the wrong approach with Danny by threatening him? I mean here is a guy with oodles of money from a former life of extortion and racketeering. Danny is a kid, that I think could be easily persuaded and manipulated. Sit him down and bribe him. Let him know that he'll be taken care of the rest of his life and never have to worry about another thing as long as he changes his story and keeps his mouth shut. That's where I think Rick really *beep* up. I think had he taken that approach. Danny wasn't mature or intelligent enough to know what real money even was. So if Rick slipped him a couple hundred bucks every now and then or went out and bought him cool stuff, that would shut up Danny.

The mom might become suspicious about it, but I think both of them could have covered it up through a false sense of male bonding. Or, he could waited and given Danny a lot of money upon his high school graduation that the mom doesn't have to know about.

I would say do NOTHING. Pretend it never happened. Although we, the viewers, know that Danny's story is true, it's a preposterous story. Dismissible due to Danny having cried wolf before and also since he was upset about the baby. Can also just be chalked up to a kid's wild imagination, or the idea that Danny maybe didn't like Rick and made something up to get rid of him.

Seems Rick is kind of a bully anyway (when they're playing catch), so his response was not a calculated one, it was just his instinct. Bribing only invites the bribee to demand more and more and more.

But as far as outcome is concerned the bribe idea isn't worse than what happened with the bullying approach. If it wasn't for the meddling Frank he would have gotten away with it too! :-)
