Seriously if the police had done there job and ordered forensics or even did backround checks, looked in to his victim they would have known.

Yep, the movie should have been called FORENSIC DISTURBANCE.

The problem is that this is the only way the movie works. If the police had done their jobs correctly the movie would have been much shorter.
