I hope Mann is still doing his third (and final) cut of "Ali" one day.

There's a great film buried in all the material.

His "Director's Cut" was sometimes better with the new material,

be he shouldn't have touched the fantastic first 10 minutes.

He should remove some of the African political context...not necessary.

The boxing scenes are the best in film history.

reply

He was a boxer- and a dumb one at that and a person who lived and enjoyed a free nation while OTHERS DIED SO HE COULD BE FREE. *beep* HIM.
NO HERO. JUST A BIG DUMB BOXER.

reply

Muhammad Ali was a defiant champion who sacrificed glory and risked imprisonment for his convictions and beliefs. He transcended boxing and changed the world. Muhammad Ali will forever be one of the greatest men who ever lived, and you clearly know nothing about him.

reply

I used to share similar perceptions of Ali, but over time I've come to respect his anti-establishment views and behavior.
