I know what I said, but PLEASE BUY SEASON 2...

I know I said I was a little disappointed with season 2 because of the editting, but as I said in another post, it's not enough to NOT buy the DVD set. It's still 10x better than the BET version. I think for those of us who have always watched since Showtime, we know what small parts are missing (you all know how it is, you can't give someone something, then take it away). But, for those of you who have only watched it on BET, you won't miss a thing (you can't miss what you never had). You'll still notice it's far better than BET's version. The deleted scenes and editting on BET are much more plentiful and noticeable than the few on the DVD.

I'm saying this to say, we need to support season 2 DVD sales if we want the entire series to be released on DVD (and God knows, I want to own the entire series). Again, it only costs $30, so it's worth the price. But, I saw a few skeptics who read my posts about being disappointed and I didn't want them to shy away from buying the DVD just because of how I felt.

Now, get off of IMDB and go buy season 2 (and if you don't have season 1, get it while you're at it). :-)

I am mad I never used to watch it on showtime, I started watching it very late and I realized how much BETTER it was! But I have a question when it used to come on, on Showtime, did they ever used to repeat the episodes???

Also in the interlude of Season 2, u see a scene that they never showed on BET when Lem is in the Bathroom(I think) with Bird and he picks her up and puts her on top of something, which epsiode is that? - Just from watching the interlude when they show certain scenes I realized BET is editing things

Otengk--I'm racking my brain to figure out which scene you're speaking of. Just to clarify, this would be in the opening when the theme song is playing, right? I'll definitely have to look to see what you're referring to.

Yes, Showtime did repeat the episodes. I think it would come on every Thurs. & there would be an encore every Sunday. When the season would end, they would re-air the episodes (just like NBC, ABC, etc.). However, if you've ever watched any series on cable, you know that they sometimes go on looong hiatuses. I think Soul Food was on hiatus for almost a year before they aired the final season.

Soul Food was on hiatus for almost a year before they aired the final season? that is weird - so what were they showing?

and Yes this would be in the opening when the theme song is playing. I think I am mistaking it wasnt in the bathroom but is a scene when Lem picks bird up and sits her on something and they were kissing, I'm just saying I never saw that on BET

During the hiatus, they showed other Showtime series. About a couple of months before Season 5 aired, they showed the repeats of season 4 (I guess to bring people up to speed and refresh their memories of what previously happened so they can go right into the next season).

I do know what scene you're talking about. Lem picked Bird up and sat her on the dining room table. I can't remember if they showed that scene on BET or not. Since I've seen the uncut version, it's hard to tell what's cut out on BET when it's a small scene like that. Now, in the episode where Christine kills herself, they cut out the scene where Damon goes to her parents' home and they force him to leave, blaming him for her death. That was a memorable scene that was cut. But if you said you've never seen it, then more than likely it was cut.

Wow Damon did that, I definitely got to get the DVD quickly. Like just from watching the interlude I realized they cut some small parts out
