Where was Soul Food filmed?

I got the impression that the series is filmed in Canada. Mostly because majority of Ahmad's classmates and friends were all young Canadian actors/actresses. But when it comes to the older cast, I think they were a little bit more pickier. If the show wasn't filmed in Ontario, Canada, is there a specific reason why most of the young cast were from Canada?

Yup filmed in Canada and some shots like little restaurant clips were from Chicago!

was that becauseits cheaper to film there than in usa?

I believe it is cheaper to do production in Canada. They had alot video shots of Chicago...and most of the scenes/sets are in the studio in Canada
