As a die-hard fan of the show, I must give props to my favorite actor on the show- Nicole Ari Parker. She is an incredible actress and she played Teri Joseph to the T. It still boggles my mind she was never nominated for an Emmy, but then again since "Soul Food" was on Showtime, that could have been a big part of it (Emmys tend to only stick to HBO when it comes to Premium channels and the Emmys- eg Sex and the City, The Sopranos). Still, Parker is a remarkable actress! The episode where I felt she really burns fire is when Damon walks out on her, and she loses her foster child- at the same time. Her emotions and energy in that scene are amazing.

"Soul Food" as a whole should have been more recognized. I feel it was underrated, and def is more entertaining then other dramas on TV that have far less caliber In My Opinion (LOST anyone?).

I agree Jayson...She is brillant. That episode you mentioned was one that I watched like a million times because she played the emotions so well. The music went so well with the scene, it was just amazing. Kudos to her. I hope she does great things in the future.

I watched the show mainly b/c she was such a great actress. I would love to meet her oneday. Soul Food is my all time favorite show and i can't wait for the rest of the seasons to come out on dvd.

I agree with you all about Nicole's brilliance as an actress and that her day of winning the big one is coming. The world as a whole, just hasn't been blessed with the opportunity of seeing one of the best African American actresses ever in action. Nicole and Boris both, are very beautiful and down to earth people. Tweet, I can't wait for you to get your chance to meet Nicole personally one day so that you can see for yourself.

She was exceptional, she gave Teri much more layers than other characters, i know they had good chemistry so much that they got married in real life, but she is the one who carried most of the damon/teri storyline.

Agreed. Nicole Ari Parker is beautiful and so talented. She deserves a lot more credit than she's given.

I just finished watching the entire series -- thanks to the kind soul who uploaded it to YouTube -- and I agree she deserved an Emmy nomination, if not the win. The season where she suffered from panic attacks was a master class in fine acting. She was so convincing, I could feel her helplessness and despair.
