Why was this show canceled?

I heard the ratings were always good. Does anyone know why the show was canceled?

reply

That's it. The ratings were always good and the writers figured it had run its course. So it was not canceled it just ended. Go out on a good note.

Actually no Showtime wanted to continue the series, but many of the actors were sort of fed up with living/working in Canada away from their families. They chose not to renew their contracts and so Showtime decided to just end the show.

Where did u hear that from. I remember reading that Malinda Williams actually wanting to be there when her son starts school, so that was a problem for her working in Canada - but i dont know about the other actors. The way Darrin Henson(Lem) talks about the show now, I know he definitely didnt want the show to end

Also I heard in a Reunion show on BET that each year their budget kept being cut but i dont know if that has anything to do with the show being cancelled

When the show was still on the air I read quite a few articles about the castmates bitching. They didn't necessarily want the show to end, but they didn't like filming in Canada because it kept them away from their lives.

reply

Who was doing the most bitching? LOL

reply

it could not be Kodjoe and Ari Parker, who started dating by the end of season 2 and got married by the end of the final season. they could not complain about being away from families, they were now together and were working and living together in toronto!

reply

You are acting like that's their only family ... They do have parents and sibling you know. and during that time they weren't married, they were just dating

I noticed that the seasons kept getting shorter and shorter. The first two seasons had 20 episodes apiece, but Seasons 3 & 4 had just 10. The last seasons had slightly more but not much, just 14.

When show's seasons keep getting shorter, it usually means that they're expensive to produce and TPTB don't want to waste that kind of money on shows that are not exactly flops, but not hits, either.
