what Ruth and George's marriage did to Ruth. Don't get me wrong it was very sad that George had to go through that, but for Ruth, it was so not what I expected and obviously not she expected her second and last marriage to be like. It sort of broke my heart and made me mad all at the same time.
Yes but I got at least a little satisfaction when she smartened up and finally left him.
And I didn't feel an ounce of pity for him when she did. He manipulated the hell out of her and purposely hid secrets about his mental state and familial issues when he agreed to marry her.
I can kind of see where he was coming from. Maybe he felt better with her, and thought that his problems wouldn't resurface because of her. I mean yeah he was still wrong, but I can see how he might've arrived at that conclusion.
She kind of deserved it though i thought, i thought her marrying him like that only weeks after lisa had disappeared was unforgivable- totally selfish, insensitive and inappropriate. Her son and grand daughter were both going through the worst possible ordeal of their lives and she goes and gets hitched. It's not like they'd been engaged before the disappearance or anything. She even argued that 'life goes on'-yea it does but not just a month after she went missing you bloody moron.
i actually think she married george so soon to distract herself from the fact she knew lisa was really gone, and it also freaked her out enough to act on a whim because not only must 'life go on' (merely the distraction) and life is too short.
