Sequel worthy?
However how could you top an excellent film like this :)
shareEh maybe. I am weary...usually when a great film has a sequel, the sequel is terrible.
shareI agree it's a risk, there has been some pretty terrible cash in type sequels over the years that ruined some pretty good movies. But there has also occasionally been some good sequels every now and then, so it will be a bit of a roll of the dice.
If they're going to do it though they should hurry up. Brian Cox isn't getting any younger, and who's going to believe there is a seventy yr old cop running about? Plus, I really think having him involved would help make it a proper sequel, as opposed to a cash in.
They need to focus on a few things:
1. re-tap into the stoner crowd. don't make it "all" about pot, but continue to put "stoner" effects into the show. for example, there is a LOT of overlayed dialogue in the movie (where actors laid down audio tracks AFTER the actual take). this adds another dimension to the movie. trippy noises work. also, briefly including some good tunes (think about the scene where foster and mac try to drive the truck).
2. make sure there are PLENTY of pranks, games and gags! the cat game was awesome the first time i saw the movie. i heard them say "cat game" and i was like "Wtf is the cat game". i fell for the whole thing. it was great!
3. include pranks and gags in the movie that are actually used on the actors in real life. ie. syrup chug, shaving cream, farva puking. this adds to the mystique and cult-ness of the film.
4. thorny, mac, foster and rabbit HAVE TO BE in the film! HAVE TO BE!!!! everyone else is coincidental. even the party kids. they can find new ones.
5. DO NOT make kids an integral part of the film! keep it as "Adult" rated as possible.
6. shinnanigans at shinnanigans.
