I agree she was terrible in this movie. Probably a mix of bad direction and lousy dialogue. Still, she comes off here very amateurish, and it's at least partially her own fault. Can't believe she was in this and Mulholland Dr. at around the same time!
shareperhaps she just wanted to have a little fun...
i think this movie's all about fun
She isn't so great in this movie, but I do respect her choice in taking this film on. She is a rare Hollywood actress who still picks independent movies. She was in one recently (the name escapes me and I don't feel like looking it up) where she played a struggling actress. The movie was shot on video, and it's terrible and looks like a thesis project gone wrong, but I really honestly respect her for doing this, Mulholland Drive, and King Kong all in the same career and not very far apart from each other.
Plus, she is, like, TOTALLY hot.
fyi - she made this before she was famous. she was a struggling actress in hollywood and desperate for work.
Banga goes anotha kanga on the bonnet of the RIP CAGE!
kris-langley, I really doubt Naomi made it because she thought it would be nice to squeeze in a small independent film. If that was the case, she must not have looked at the script before signing on. For some reason, I can't imagine she read it and thought, "Well, I want to do another indepedent movie, so why not one about killer elevators murdering people in a New York hotel? That should definitely further my craft." I just don't buy it. It was obviously a case of money over art.
shareNaomi wasn't famous when she did this movie... as all fans know, she had a terrible time before Mulholland Drive... my guess is that she accepted to do this (and many other movies) just to have a work and a salary... she did an average job imo, her charachter is very one dimensional, and Naomi did what she could.

She's a great actress...she had NOTHING to work with in this movie. The script is one of the worst I've ever encountered (and I've read well over a thousand, maybe closer to two thousand, for my former job).
I think what one is seeing is her struggling to make something of the horrible script. Edward Herman, Dan Hedeya and Ron Perlman didn't have much luck with their scenes than she did, either. The director also clearly has no idea what to do with actors. That the director and writer are one in the same person, means there wasn't a terribly sure hand at the tiller of this boat.
