BP was brought up in my psychology class discussion. The topic was about how Marylin refused to sign her divorce papers even though she was abused in her marriage. We had to explore the reasons why we think she still wanted to stay "connected" with him. My problem is I never saw the episode where she revealed her past issues. Can someone inform me on what exactly happened to her in her past?

Her ex husband abused her and beat her seriously and put her in the hospital a couple times. If I remember right she suffer a broke nose and a couple of ribs. I think some other injuries but I cant remember them.
shareI think she refused to sign annulment papers rather than divorce papers. Her reason was because if the marriage was annulled, it was like saying it never happened.
shareIt was an annulment through the Catholic Church. Her ex-husband claimed he had changed and wanted to marry his new fiancee in the Catholic Church, but he couldn't do it unless Marilyn agreed to have the marriage annulled. She refused to do it, though.

Maybe she just didn't want to give him the satisfaction of obliging him? Or maybe she wanted to try to prevent his fiance from being abused
