I'm a big fan of the serie and I recently watched all the episodes, but does anyone agree with me that the last episode was one of the worst in television history??
The show was cancelled abruptly so there was no true series finale. Two of the episodes shown on TV One were never shown on Fox. Boston Public ended way too early.
It wasn't a true finale, and I agree, it was a sloppy episode.
For myself, I regard the second last episode as the final one. Just because it speaks so beautifully to the themes of the show.
It's the ep with Billy Deegan, the kid who was killed in Iraq. It focuses heavily on Steven's relationship with the boy, and the epitath, with Billy's letter to "Mr. Harper" from beyond the grave is, in my opinion, the most evocative piece of writing on the show.
It's all about why one becomes a teacher. On rewatch, I'd stop there, or watch the last episode before this one. Much more satisfying.

I really wish they would have just let it play out the rest of the season and give it a true ending. The season would have only needed 7 more episodes to end. Too bad, I loved watching this show!
