i picked a copy up of the new movie, which doesn't seem to have a listing of it's own here, at Anime Boston this weekend (one week before offical release).

now I won't spoil it for you, but lets just say this.... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

if you're looking for the same hard, gritty, blood covered Kite, you are in the wrong place. if you're looking for a mashing of two/three different genres together (Avenging Lolita Angel/Super Science Gone Wrong/Budding Love Store) with a cliffhanger ending and no real progression and/or resolution, then this is the movie for you.... i will just question your taste.

.... and if you're looking for Sawa, don't watch this because it will just tarnish your memory of the Sawa we all know and love.... it like watching any Highlander after the 1st one: just not worth it.

definate stear clear. you have been warned!

probably a 4 out of 10, and that's once i've calmed down.

Thanks for the info, but im still buying it. I just love Umetsu's work. I cant find it anywhere though, and best buy isnt getting it untill like later this month.

definetly hunt it down, and give your opinion... i'd love to compare and contrast; maybe i'm way off base, maybe i'm right. more opinions are always better to gauge a rating until there's actually a listing for this movie.

I haven't seen the whole thing, I just saw a sneak preview. So far it seems very odd, and I really hope that it the rest isn't like what I saw. It's not the same Kite I know and love.

Superman has returned and he's here to stay.

Hey I was just wondering something
Is this Kite Liberator widescreen? or fullscreen?
The original was fullscreen, but since this new movie is made today, I figured it would have been shot in widescreen.

Also, is this a sequel to the original?
Does it take place after?

I always interpreted that Sawa died in the orginal at the end when the "assasin" was heard coming up the stairs right before the credits.

So how can Sawa be in the sequel?

Just curious since you have seen it you might know the answers to these questions.

Thanks for your time.

It is kind of too bad that this movie was no good, after all that is quite surprising considering Umetsu wrote and directed it just like his previous stuff.

Thanks
