WHOA! YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IT GROSSED?

According to the site "The Numbers", it cost 45 million to make but only raked in a little over 7 million at the box office! What's up with that? Such an awesome, hilarious comedy!

I think I know why. I was cruising for good programs the other day and caught it by accident and watched it till the end. I'd never heard of it before. If you don't give your film any publicity, I think that's to be expected. Too bad. It was a great movie.

I believe it was because of the fact that the movie was delayed after 9/11.

I have to agree that the unfortunate timing of the realease of the film is what cut it in the gross department. I have to admit that this is one of my all time favorite movies, I laugh every time I watch it because of the fact that I catch something new each time. If the terrorist attacks had not of happened, if the country had not still been reeling from the attacks (even though I know the film was delayed for as long as it was, it wasn't enough), if the studio would have taken a chance and put some money behind promoting the movie this would have benn a tremendous hit. Even my nephew, who is eleven years younger than me, loves this movie......it is not a generational movie either (meaning it is not geared at just a certain age group or groups) because my mother and father, along with my grandmother and grandfather nearly wet themselves watching this movie because they were laughing so hard. I wish that I could tell more people about this movie, every time someone asks if I have a suggestion for a funny movie I tell them about this movie.

Favorite scene: When Arthur Herk is freeze framed while turning around when he is wearing that wig (Stanley Tucci......under rated genius)

Favorite Line: "Well I would love to help you out however both hands are busy trying to find my dick."

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you-do or do not there is no try.

Yeah, it was a victim of bad timing.

Too bad. I LOVE this movie.

Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle "Dixie"?

"Buffalo Soldiers" was another potential comedy classic that 9/11 denied an audience. :(

Delays probably hurt. But also, let's face it, BT was no second coming of GET SHORTY, the crime comedy blockbuster that starred John Travolta and featured Rene Russo and Dennis Farina, both of whom turn up in BT. Based on Dave Barry's first novel, BT is a close approximation of GET SHORTY and several other Elmore Leonard novels. But Barry is no Leonard. He's not even Carl Hiassen, Leonard's closest contender for funny crime novels sets in sunny Florida. So the source material was good but not great, and Tim Allen was certainly no Travolta. I like the movie well enough, but it is no GET SHORTY.

I remember I was in America in the Spring of 2001 (just before the attacks) and I was seeing this advertised and it really interested me.

I was finally able to get my hands on the DVD yesterday (I'm from the UK).
It's extremelly funny. It's a shame it was such a flop though.
Superb cast, superb story, well written and directed.
Just goes to show that timing is everything.
