Gator Fans
The raido show was the funniest part of the movie.
shareYeah, that cracked me up as well! But I think the whole film is totally funny.
shareYeah, but it doesn't make sense. UF is the best school in the state as evidenced by the rankings done by both the Washington Monthly and the US News. Now if they had made fun of the "jorts" instead, then it would've made a lot more comical for everyone.
shareWhat does them being the best have to do with it? They weren't making fun of the team anyway, they were making fun of the fans. And there are ALWAYS crazed fans for any team of any sport.
sharethey weren't making fun of the gators. they were making fun of gator fans.
shareThere is a reason you got made fun of. Orange & Blue???? C'mon.
shareThe movie was set in Miami, so the host was probably a 'Canes fan.

I lived with a Gators fan my freshman year. Pretty close to how it is in the film.

Someone needs to put these clips on Youtube in light of tonight's game.
shareI agree, the radio was the best part. It was totally remeniscent to how Dave Barry wrote radio talk shows in his columns. Also, I thought it was hilarious when the two hitmen escaped in the airplane full of Gators fans. That wasn't in the book, but it was extrememly funny!
shareI was really hoping this message board was going to be a bunch of gator fans in an argument that boiled down to something just like the role of the gator fans in the movie.
sharegators are loathsome, slimy, disgusting, foul-smelling creatures with a "brain" the size of a walnut. and the animals they're named after aren't much better.

Don't know if anyone noticed (or cared) but that was the director of the
film that played the voice of the gator fan calling in.. He also did a
cameo in one of the Men In Black films, where they go to an apartment and
use the thermostat like a combination to open up the wall of weapons. That
was the same director and his wife and daughter sitting on the couch.
d.
as a TN alumni, *beep* THE GAYTORS
shareI agree- the Dawgs are much more vicious and prone to violence than Gators; if I see one more mohawk and pair of jean shorts, I'm gonna knaw on someone! (reference to their bad hairdos and equally bad fashion sense should ring true with fans of the SEC/ACC).
shareProbably only because Dave Barry is likely a Hurricane or Seminole fan. He's based in Miami, so why wouldn't he hate the Gators? If he were based in Boston, he'd probably crap all over Yale or Yankee (Skankee) fans.
sharesince they represent everything wrong with Sports(delusional no-talents, racists, serial killers, etc.), being a gator Hater is The American Way.

Whenever my brother and I see obvious morons doing something stupid, one of us inevitably says "Looks like we got Gator fans."
