Valerium

I haven't looked this up yet, but did Anne have some sort of health problem(s) that are known?

In the beach scene, her mom asked her to get out of the water b/c she knows how frail she is, and then, after she has the nightmare about Hannah, her mom tells her to take her valerium b/c it'll maker her feel better. (According to Wikipedia, valerian, which I'm assuming is related, can be used for anti-anxiety purposes and/or sedation, among other things. Maybe that was a common herbal aid in those days...?)

In Roses of the Earth, her biography, its written that Anne Frank took it for depression.

reply

Oh, I've never heard of Roses of the Earth. Thanks for letting me know!

Anne took Valerium more for anxiety than actual depression.

reply

Oh, okay. Thanks for the info!

valerium was anti-depressent and she took it because of her depression of not going outside and playing with her friends. i need some valerium, because i'm depressed right now. only one of my school friends hangs out with me, and i can't see my swimteam friends until swim season starts in May. and because a boy i'm in love with hates my guts.
