Why was she crying?

After Anne had her period, why was she crying when she was in the bathroom?

Yes, I'm aware of the anniversary...yes, God Bless them! Thanks for the help but she looked like she wasn't happy...but then again, maybe not.

Anyone else?

reply

She is crying because she is becoming a woman in the most unnatural of ways: cooped up in an attic, terrified for her life, w/o her friends & w/o dating boys...life on the outside is passing her by and she is powerless to do anything about it.

reply

She cried because she was menstrual!!! Hehe, that's what I first thought when I first saw the movie.

She criend b/c she thought she would look or be different,..cuzshe turned into a "woman" but she got dissapointed

reply

I cried when I got mine...I think it's normal.

in spite of everything, I still believe people are good at heart. -Anne Frank

reply

Lol. Bearing in mind, I was only seven when I first saw this movie, I thought she had wet herself! And I am a boy so...

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

reply

Even though as Anne says in the diary that she was expecting her period soon, it is still always a shock, and a very emotional time.

reply

I agree with you. Though I'm not a girl so don't know how it feels like, I think (and have been told) that a girl is very sentimental during a period. All her feelings arise deeper and stronger than usual. Anne could have been feeling that, and all her homesickness, her longings, thoughts, memories, etc, just exploited inside her and she finally had enough and cryied, just the way she used to do according to her diary. What I mean is that everything she kept inside (the constant fights in the secret anex, her dilema which she describes identifying herself with "good paola and bad paola", everybody spoiling at her, the nazi hunt for jews, her loneliness, friends, outside world, school, the world she left behind, etc) all that stuff could have been in her mind when she was crying, and everything seems much more depressant in those days. That's really sad, however, it's part of the female nature.

Hope this might help and sorry about my english, it's just not my native language

reply

when i first got my period i didn't really care,so i to don't understand why the hell she was crying...

reply

I suppose it's different for every person then.

My guess is that she was crying for joy. *shrugs* She wanted so badly to become a woman, and when it finally happened, she was overcome with emotion.

reply

I don kno, but i cried when i started mine. i guess its just so overwhelming. i mean, you're happy, but sad that you're not really a kid anymore. and its just a lot to take in.

reply

i think that if u look closely enough you see blood on her fingers... she kinda looked like she was looking at them or something near the end of the scene!

reply

Yeah, there was blood on her fingers. Are some of you dumb? why is she crying? Its stressful for most girls when they frist get it let alone in the conditions she was in! I cried my frist time. Now think about what she went through!

reply

you cry cause of the cramps that hurt reeeeealy bad (my friends told me, but it's cause their mommys told them, not cause they have one)

reply

Oh, I know! I always get nauseated when I get cramps. So, I figured that was one of the reasons why she was crying. I know I cried when I first started because I felt so ashamed and guilty.

reply

she cried because getting your period hurts...or so i've been told :P yes i am a girl and all but i'm still waiting cause i'm eleven...and also probably cause she was cooped up in an attic when she was hoping to be home instead of in hiding when she got it

reply

Not all the time, some women get cramps, but even those are treatable.

reply

She was crying because she had such hopes for her life when ''she became a woman'' and now those hopes were put on hold.

I think she was crying because she was thinking "In 60 years there's going to be an IMDB message board now where people just give away way too much information. And then there'll be complete dorks like michael who read it and write completely silly responses."
