The real Van Pels family

While there has remained a wealth of information about Anne and her family, there doesn't seem to be much available about the Van Pelses, aside from their birthdates and that they came from Osnabruck, Germany. I'm curious are there any living relatives of theirs today?

I remember reading somewhere -- possibly in The Hidden Life of Otto Frank -- that Mr. van Pels had relatives who managed to escape Hitler and flee to the U.S. One was his brother. I'm sure he's dead now, but there are definitely living van Pels relations. I don't know anything about Auguste van Pels' family, though.
