hello ive started to write a story based in a ancient japanese universe consisting of clans and ninja tribes. at the start of each chapter ive added a small samurai haiku to add more flavour to the book. when i saw the film, although it was poor, i thought that the haiku about the butterfly at the beggining was really effective. can anyone remember what the lines of text were. thanks
I don't recall the haiku, but I just felt I ought to mention that it's ninja clans, not tribes. If the ninja even existed in such a capacity.
In any case, if you're short on haiku you really should look into the first great, and possibly the most famous haiku poet in history: Basho Matsuo. Find haiku in Japanese if you can, because things will be lost in translation. For example:
Natsu-gusa ya tsuwamono-domo ga yume no ato.
The translations are plentiful, but here's the general idea:
Greenclad fields are all that remains of brave warriors' dreams.
I just checked, but couldn't see a haiku at the beginning of the film. There was a butterfly emerging though, but no poem of any kind. Are there differences between releases, perhaps?
