Did I see a homage to John Carpenter's Escape from New York
Near the beginning of BPM when Mr. Funktastic is letting Kar leave after the fight underground, someone throws a knife next to Kar in the wall. When that guy then walks past Kar menacingly, I swear his odd walk looked like the same odd walk used by the messenger in John Carpenter's 1981 Escape from New York, who tells the soldiers who come to rescue the downed president they have 60 seconds to leave "or he dies."
