Before The iñárritu Effect , There Were Overlooked Better Films

What I really enjoyed about "The Iñárritu" who still was still mastering his craft, was his use of storytelling of people coincidentally interweaved into stories that make them very unique and very 'real.'
21 Grams was a lovely example of that as well as
Amores Peros, Babel to a lesser degree.

How many newfound commercial mainstream Iñárritu fans watched those films when they weren't the flavor of the day.

That wasn't "The Iñárritu", it was the screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga, who wrote Amores Perros, 21 Grams, and Babel. If you want another of these 'interweaved real' movies, watch Arriaga's The Burning Plain: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1068641/?ref_=nv_sr_1.

Excellent point my friend. Although he was obviously very drawn to that particular method of storytelling.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll certainly give it a look.
