Can someone explain to me
How this movie is a 5.3? I think it's really interesting and scary! I just don't see what's so bad about it...I would give it a 6.5 or so.

Great movie, I gave it an 8. But the plot and characters were subpar. The only thing I like about this movie is the house.
shareI don't get it. The plot and the characters were subpar, but you liked the house so you gave it an 8 and called it a great movie. It's a bit like saying "The food tasted horribly and the service was lousy, but I liked how the table looked so it was a great restaurant" or "the engine doesn't start and the tires are flat, but the windshield is really clean so it's a great car". Wow, simply wow!
shareI like the analogies! I wondered how a film could be rated so highly if the plot and characters are subpar but in a strange way, I can see where they're coming from. I like the look of the whole thing as well as the ghosts, even though the premise is silly- very similar to the House on Haunted Hill (which I prefer, mainly because of Geoffrey Rush's camp Vincent Price impersonation!)
