The bluray in America??

I've been searching forever. Amazon has it for like $90... What's the deal? I'm almost set to settle for the DVD but can anyone give me some advice or help as to where to find it?

You're probably never going to find the blu-ray for cheap anywhere, but you might get lucky at Amazon.

I ordered it from Amazon a few weeks ago, it was over $100. I think it was $115. For some reason the order was cancelled, apparently the seller ran out of copies. I was bummed, but this turned out to be a stroke of good luck- After a few days I went back to Amazon, and someone was selling it for $65. I'm used to paying through the nose for imported Japanese goods, and I'm well aware that retail DVDs/blu-rays are generally far more expensive in Japan than in the US, so it seemed like a very good deal to me. I love the JP Ghibli packaging, I'm tempted to import all Miyazaki blu-rays.

I'd just be patient & wait for Disney to release the BD stateside. Porco Rosso is coming out February 3rd & then that leaves only this & 'The Castle of Cagliostro' as Miyazaki's only films not available on BD in the states.

With the rate they've been going they should have 'Spirited Away' on BD within a few months. 'Castle of Cagliostro', well that's a different story, I think it's connection to a pre-existing (still ongoing?) anime series might make it an unappealing sale for Disney. That could probably get a release through one of the more traditional anime distributors.

There. It's on the Internet. Thus it's official
