Can someone explain to me how Ubermann (the mad scientist) died? He used the "God-making machine" on himself. He turned into a green monster (looking a bit like Nur-Ab Sal) and then he exploded. I take it that something went wrong but what? Did he too used the wrong numbers of orichalcum-beads?
Yes, it's something like he overdosed on them. His human body couldn't take the god existence and so he went from human to god to super god and boom! out of material existence...
Wrong move herr ubermann (the name is so funny)...
This is my favourite game and I fondly remember it as thousands of hours of brilliant fun, cheers for the creators and all who enjoyed it like me!
Don't you remember the explanation about Plato's tenfold numbering error?
Plato made an error of translation in his diary, numbers were always off by a base of ten. Didn't you notice how in the map the number of miles were 45 instead of 450, or 600 years instead of 60, and things like that?
Anyway, the number of beads Plato prescribed was 10. Indy talked Kerner into using one bead and that was wrong, so Kerner turned into a goatman and died. Then Indy said the error might have gone in the other direction, so he recommended 100 beads to Ubermann, and that was too many and Ubermann exploded.
So the correct number was most likely 10. The only time Plato got it right.
You have to read the lost dialogue for the clues. There are three of them. The clues are usually in the style of "a setting sun shining alone on the western sea" so, you turn the sundisk to put the setting sun on top, then you turn the moondisk to put the new moon on top, then the world disk for the western sea. The clue about "contrary minds" means you have to use the exact opposite of the previous combination.
The combinations change for each game. Here are some more examples:
For the Sunstone only: Quote: "At many outposts, a Sunstone sufficed, if the morning light warmed the tall horns." What does it mean: Align the Rising Sun with the Tall Horns
Quote: "At many outposts, a Sunstone sufficed, if hot sunlight bathed the tall horns." What does it mean: Align the Noon Sun with the Tall Horns
Quote: "At many outposts, a Sunstone sufficed, if sunset made the tall horns red." What does it mean: Align the Setting Sun with the Tall Horns
Quote: "At many outposts, a Sunstone sufficed, if darkness concealed the tall horns." What does it mean: Align the Darkness with the Tall Horns
Sunstone + Moonstone: Quote: "At the greater colony a Moonstone was also needed, with the noon sun riding above the full moon." What does it mean: Align the Full Moon with the Noon Sun
Quote: "At the greater colony a Moonstone was also needed, with darkest night healed by the full moon." What does it mean: Align the Full Moon with the Darkness
Quote: "At the greater colony a Moonstone was also needed, with the sun dying as a new moon is born." What does it mean: Align the New Moon with the Setting Sun
Quote: "At the greater colony a Moonstone was also needed, with pale dawn to shred the darkest night." What does it mean: Align the New Moon with the Rising Sun
Sunstone + Moonstone + Worldstone: Quote: "To approach Atlantis itself a Worldstone was required as well, with the rising sun breaking night's grip above the fiery peak." What does it mean: Align the Volcano with the Rising Sun
Quote: "To approach Atlantis itself a Worldstone was required as well, with a waxing moon the sky's only reply to the fires below." What does it mean: Align the Volcano with the Waxing Moon
Quote: "To approach Atlantis itself a Worldstone was required as well, with a glorious sun blazing alone upon the western shore." What does it mean: Align the West Sea with the Noon Sun
Quote: "To approach Atlantis itself a Worldstone was required as well, with darkest night soon to rule the western sea." What does it mean: Align the West Sea with the Setting Sun
Quote: "To approach Atlantis itself a Worldstone was required as well, with darkness ruling the old city without challenge." What does it mean: Align the City with the Darkness
Quote: "To approach Atlantis itself a Worldstone was required as well, with the moon, full of beauty unrivaled, lighting the city." What does it mean: Align the City with the Full Moon
Quote: "To approach Atlantis itself a Worldstone was required as well, with only a waning moon to protect the city from grim night." What does it mean: Align the City with the Waning Moon
Quote: "To approach Atlantis itself a Worldstone was required as well, with the the dying orbs plummeting into the eastern sea." What does it mean: Align the East Sea with the Setting Sun
And to get into Atlantis itself, set up the Stones the same as you did inside the Greater Colony, only rotate them 180 degrees so that what ever was facing the Tall Horns is now facing South.
Any of you guys still got a copy of the original manual? I've reinstalled the game from the floppies, and tried to play it with my son, but can't start the game, as I've misplaced the manual, and the game asks for the sun/moon/volcano combination from a page of the manual. I vaguely remember there where pictures in the corner of each of the pages. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
write lucasarts! A lot of companies have been including "classic" versions of games, i.e. Ninendo re-releasing the Zelda games etc. I would LOVE to be able to play this game again, but when i do on my PC the game freaks out. I would love to see this game included as a bonus feature on the New Indiana Jones game that is going to be released in Summer of 2007. If you're with me, then write them a letter!

But, if Indy tries 10 beads, he will just suffer the same destiny as Ubermann
