cant believe there is no discussion on here...

i really enjoyed this movie. its on HBO all the time and I continue to watch it. i like hugh jackmans character, and his view on things because of his previous relationships. i think with the number of characters in the film, is amazing the number of possible perspectives within a relationship are portrayed.

Hey, it's like the (excellent, by the way) review on the front page says. Its a good harmless movie. There are a lot worse ways to spend your time.

I love this film.

my fav quote from it is Jane's; "There are few things sadder in this life than watching someone walk away after they've left you, watching the distance between your bodies expand until there's nothing... but empty space and silence."

sickly true...I love this film

because it was a rather mediocre movie. Though they did get my favorites and they all look beautiful: Ashley Judd, Greg Kinnear, Marisa Tomei and Hugh Jackman!!! I'm more of a "Bridget Jones Diary" freak, and "Someone Like You" was a dissapointment.

If you don't mind explaining, could you be more especific about the reasons you more of BJD than Someone like you?
What exactly makes BJD better ?

reply

I'll try. It's been a while.

I like the people in both movies.

For "Someone Like You" I love all the actors, yet there wasn't any chemistry.
For BJD, it was good to see Hugh Grant be the bad boy for a change, and Renee was believably English. Though it's hard to believe the Colin Firth character can be in love with BDJ, you want to see them end up together (and I guess BDJ 2 shows how hard it is to keep that relationship going).

"Someone Like You" was more predictable, BJD kept you on your toes till the last minute! It's like BJD, there were a lot of misunderstandings and took more work to get the guy, whereas "SLY" Hugh Jackman character just decides he likes the Ashley Judd character, but we don't exactly see him yearning for her throughout the movie.

I loved the script a lot more in BJD. I didn't laugh or feel like I cared about the "Someone Like You" characters. I guess BJ had more embarrassing scenes that were funny; I only remember when the Ashley Judd character was doing her cheerleading thing in her underwear, then the Hugh Jackman's character's one night stand was there. "SLY" dragged on and on.

But yes, If anybody asked me which one to watch, I would still say BJD hands down over SLY.
