Chevy Chase IS funny! People never change and thats a fact. You can't just wake up one day and become "not funny". This is THE script! Have you even read it?

Ignore mikeunti, all they do is go around to different boards and say everything sucks.

He had like 20 years alone on the top. I don't mind any person stepping down for a few years in order to make a comeback. And there is nothing wrong with his attitude. Chevy Chase is a genius. He has travelled all over the world of humour and still hasn't had any challenge from any other comedian.
The guy IS funny! Relaxed, cool and excellent.
And I know that he will pull this movie off. It's a serious comedy and it fits him like a glove.

Fletch, Caddyshack, NL Vacation, NL Vacation Europe, Foul Play - not to meantion all his SNL sketeches & the music videos he starred in. Do you even realise how many movies he carried up despite the scripts were bad, the directing was poor and that his co-actors was just miles away from funny? Chevy is a natural born king of comedy. He knows whats funny and he doesn't even have to act. He is just being himself.
But you have every right to your opinion. I just know that this movie will rock...
All his SNL sketches? he was there for one year, and then left. And he didnt carry Caddyshack. It would have been better without him.

Ty: I like you Betty.
Danny: It's Danny sir.
Ty: Danny.
Danny: I haven't even told my father I'm not gonna get that scholarship. I'm gonna end up working in a lumberyard the rest of my life.
Ty: What's wrong with lumber? I own two lumberyards.
Danny: I notice you don't spend too much time there.
Ty: I'm not quite sure where they are.
Ty Webb: You take drugs, Danny?
Danny Noonan: Every day.
Ty Webb: Good. Then what's your problem?
Danny Noonan: I don't know.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ty Webb: A flute without holes, is not a flute. A donut without a hole, is a danish.
Danny Noonan: I gotta go to college.
Ty Webb: You don't have to go to college. This isn't Russia. Is this Russia? This isn't Russia.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ty Webb: I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball.
Just be the ball, be the ball, be the ball. You're not being the ball Danny.
Danny Noonan: It's hard when you're talking like that.
Ty Webb: Thank you very little.
Lacey Underall: My uncle says you've got a screw loose.
Ty Webb: Your uncle molests collies.

Underrated if you ask me. Fletch will always rank high. Funny farm was also a funny one. Christmas Vacation. He is Santa Clause. Without him in Caddyshack the movie would of bombed big time. He is the dry humourist. Sure he had some bad ones but you take the good with the bad. Name one actor that has consistant hits. I'll tear you down like virgins dress.

Eh I don't know if all of Dean's films were hits at the time. I'm sure that at the time Giant was neither received or infact did very well. Of course Dean really can't be used as an example as he was one of the first American icons. America had never really lost a big star in such a tragic manner and at such a young age. Plus he only did 3 pictures. If Chase had died say after Caddyshack or maybe even a little later after the likes of Vacation or Fletch then i'm sure we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Chevy did state around 1990 time that he wan't going to do any adult orientated movies and instead he was only going to agree to scripts that were family friendly. A bad move but heh. At least he had the courage to back up his convictions.
If your looking for an actor that only attached himself to successful projects, the only one I can think of is John Cazale. While never he was never the star of a film he always had a strong supporting role. Of course he was only in 5 movies before his death, but all 5 were nominated for Best Picture Oscars:
The Conversation
The Godfather
The Godfather, Part II
Dog Day Afternoon
The Deer Hunter
That's not a bad track record. As for Chevy Chase. I like him. I think he is funny. However, he can't seem to get into a good movie lately. Look at his last 5:
Ellie Parker
Goose!
Karate Dog
Rent-A-Husband
Bad Meat
I hope Chevy does find a good project soon. It would be great to see him in a hit.
Chevy Chase needs to be on our screens a lot more, he always had great comedy timingSource:Movie reviews - Funny MOneyhttp://moviereviews.noskram.com/2009/12/movie-reviews-funny-money
