Wit @ Manhattan Theatre Club

This was on sky movies recently and I've just watched it...it's one of the most intense movies I've seen in a long while (it should come with a warning) and for the moment it has left me an emotional wreck.

I thought the concept was brilliant, a study of human existance, a constant quest for knowledge in a bid to conquer our fear of the unknown, our fighting spirit. I had never heard of Donne and generally am not a fan of poetry but found it perfectly in this context and key to delivering the story.

Sadly, a few people I know are dealing with family members who are suffering through similar and I really feel that Wit has allowed me to stepped into their world and experience something of what they are going through. I am also left feeling grateful that so far I have only been an observer.

Emma Thompson is brilliant. My gut is that Cynthia Nixon will do the role equal justice but just curious as to how the play compares in general.
