ending: not so unbelievable now?

The movie, after all this dreary but absorbing drama, turns violent in a shocking ending that I won't spoil here. The final scenes were based on a news story Breillat read in a paper years ago.

I personally don't find it unbelievable but some of you clearly do. That's why i'm posting this. I found this in a review.
Maybe it should be addd to the trivia? Does anyone know any more about it?
I've been trying to search for the news story if anyone can find anything I hope they post it here.

I don't know any more about that. It's very interesting to find out, though.
Can you give a link to the source, please?

Sorry I would have posted it earlier but I didn't want to detract from my point about finding the news story. It was just a review I came across.

For me, it does nothing to enhance this film to know that something unrelated happened in real life. I'm sure things like this DO happen in real life. But it caused THIS film to take a 180 degree turn -- for the worse. So knowing that something like this happened in real life does nothing to help THIS film's crappy ending.
