Misleading...
From the synopsis I expected the "tragic" outcome to be directly related to what the subject of the film was. When the killer attacked I kept looking at him to see if it was the Italian boy! Then wondered how he knew where they were!! Realizing it was no one the film had introduced before I was simply baffled by the misfortune. What were the chances the mom would pick that place to stop, sleep, etc?
Did the killer see the older girl go to the rest room and wait to kill her and her family? Or was he just walking around looking for someone to kill and "lucked" upon our stars?
Was the lesson then "s**t happens"?? All the concerns about having slept with an older boy, dad possibly pressing charges, medical exams, reputation all meant nothing because in an hour or so they'd all, with one exception, be dead. So the movies message is: Our life concerns, whatever they may be, are pointless because soon we'll all be dead.
And why was the little sister spared? Something about her? She can identify the killer! He for that reason alone should have killed her.
Truthfully the way the drive on the highway was filmed I expected one of the trucks to run them off the road!! That ending would have made just as much sense.
