BBFC.co.uk have rated a 39 minute "Making of The Lone Gunmen" documentary. And anyone who pays attention to BBFC's site knows, that rating an episode/movie/extra is as good as a confirmation of a release.
No announcement has been made referring to when it will be released (and as of yet, no episodes or commentaries have been rated), but it is coming. So start saving!
I just thought I'd point out though that extras and episodes on the Tru Calling box set were rated as early as Nov 2004, though the set wasn't released til June 05, so it might be a few months yet for The Lone Gunmen to hit the shelves.
It's nice that you guys are finally getting it. You got Seasons 2 and 3 of "Millennium" a lot earlier than we did here in North America, Season 3 actually isn't even out for another 6 days here, but we've had "The Lone Gunmen" for six months.
Millennium still isn't out? Wow, I knew we were ahead but I didn't know we were that far ahead. Same with the Roswell sets, and for the most part the Buffy and Angel sets (though the US caught up in the end and released Angel season 5 a week earlier)
I can't wait till Lone Gunmen is released but I'm anxious about how it will be packaged. Will it be the same cover (which I thought was great) and how many discs will it come on? I'm not a fan of flippers which I hear the US version had
Season 3 of "Millennium" isn't out here in the US for 5 more days. Fox was dragging their feet here because the show never caught on. I think the DVD's sold like the show performed when it aired: barely acceptable to ensure future releases. The time between "X-Files" DVD releases here in the US was always 6 months between seasons, the same goes for the first two "Millennium" seasons, but it's taken 9 months to release Season 3. On the other hand, I believe the UK (where the show was much more successful) had all three seasons on DVD within three months of the release of the first season. As far as I know, the Ten Thirteen shows have always had identical content between the US and the UK and I honestly think that Fox is only releasing Season 3 of "Millennium" because it's already done, they basically had to repackage the content from the UK set to match the first two US sets and call it good.
Huh. I thought the sets would be more popular in the US. Millennium was shown over here on Sky (a cable channel that only showed the first two seasons), then later on ITV (which only aired the first) and then eventually The Sci-fi Channel picked it up and aired all three seasons (though the final one didn't air til about 2 or 3 years ago). I didn't see the series when it was first shown and only caught the repeats. It's funny, The Sci-fi channel couldn't show season 2 straight away because Sky still owned the rights, so Sci-fi ended up showing season 1, then season 3. And then when they finally got the rights, they showed season 2. So that's the order I watched them in. Oh and I watched the Millennium episode of the X Files before any of the actual Millennium series. Pretty messed up huh?
As for Ten Thirteen box sets - well the only difference I'm aware of (apart from the packaging of Millennium and Harsh Realm), is on the XF Season 9 box set - which had an exclusive 90 minute making-of documentary on The Truth. I picked up the US version for precisely that reason (plus it worked out cheaper too) There was talk when Millennium was released that it would have trailers for every episode like the XF sets, but the UK release only had 8 (I believe) tv spots. Was the US one the same?
Yeah, there are only the TV spots for the premiere on Season 1. All three seasons have a "Making Of" segment and a featurette on the Academy Group, plus Season 3 has that "X-Files" episode.
I sure hope it doesn't get pushed back. Play (and amazon) listed the release of the First season of the Dead Zone before it was announced officially, and it just got pushed back to march
Date is now Jan 30, 2006. Released via Twentieth Century Fox Home Ent. Two disc double-sided set. RRP of £49.99 (though clearly there will be deals on Play and Amazon etc)
Disc Specifics
Disc 1, Side 1 Pilot Bond Jimmy Bond Eine Kleine Frohike
Disc 1, Side 2 Like Water For Octane Three Men And A Smoking Diaper Episode Commentary
Disc 2, Side 1 Madam, I’m Adam Planet Of The Frohikes Maximum Byers
£31.99 on Play, haven't checked Amazon or others. Not a great price, but not bad considering it's a one off for a brilliant series. I'd be pissed if they were charging 30 quid per series though with only a handful of episodes. Then again, I'd be happy at the same time that there actually WAS more than one season... :(
