Hello,

I really enjoyed the X Files and am wondering if I should rent this-any pointers?

Hilariously bad... don't bother. I rented it out, watched the first two episodes and won't be bothering to watch the rest! Although the 9/11 connection was weird.

And I bought the set and watch them all the time. Not everybody is going to like it, but not everybody is going to hate it either. It's worth checking out. Lots of people did like it.

I just bought the box set - it's hilarious! Imagine "The Three Stooges" had made the "Mission: Impossible" TV series and you're close! If you are after ongoing sinister government conspiracy "X-files" type stuff though, it's not the same. Yves Adele Harlow is a bonus too - if she were the president, she'd be Babe-raham Lincoln

I bought it, and I watch it constantly. It's hilarious and has lots of nice tie-ins to the X-Files. It's one of the greatest shows ever.

No, you shouldn't rent it.
You should BUY it!
It's a wonderful show, hilarious, but yet it also contians several episodes with really moving moments to them.

I watched (and taped) the show in it's original run, and I still break out my videos every once in a while when I'm feeling down, they really do the trick to cheer me up. If you were a fan of the X-Files for it's serious episodes, gross out effects etc. I wouldn't recommend TLG. However, if you love the episodes that had a more comedic feel to them, like those that starred The Lone Gunmen, then yes, I would endorse renting it whole heartedly. There's a couple of really dreadful episodes in my opinion (Madam I'm Adam was a stretch for me, although I did thouroughly enjoy the scene with Frohike and that smartass kid) but on the whole, I think it was a wonderful series. Bear in mind though, this isn't the hard hitting drama of XF and if you go into this series expecting that, you're only going to be disappointed.
