How'd they die?
I never saw the episode where they died. How'd they get it? Explosion? They shot? A big piano land on them all?
I'm right, you're wrong. That must suck!share

They were stopping a biological weapon or something, and they all decided to barricade themselves inside a place so that it could not get out. In the process they were all killed. There was a funeral at the end of that episode.
It was kind of an odd ending. I wouldn't be suprized if they showed up in the X-Files 2 movie.
yes they died to stop the nerve agent from speading in the xfiles ep "jump the shark" they did it cause if they hadn't most of some city would be dead and then the world...they sealed themself in a fire proof part of a hospital, just so you know...and skinner manage to get them a full military burial in the vetens momoral grave yard or some darn thing like that...no i am not obessed...lol....tranceypoo!!
shareYeah, the Lone Gunmen sacrificed themselves to keep that nerve agent (Which could kill countless people in a matter of days) from spreading, by using the fire doors to seal themselves in a closed section of hallways with the guy who was about to spread it. I thought it was really sad, especially with Jimmy crying as he saw them from the other side of the fire door. By the way, I believe they were buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
shareI forgot about that. That makes me mad because now there is definitely no chance the Lone gunmen will ever be brought back. Unless they come up with a good story that had them faking there deaths or something.
Hey you know whats funny. I always thought that dogs..um..laid eggs. And I learned something today.
I just watched this episode for the first time and I cried like a little baby.

Who's gonna believe us if we don't have a laser pointer?
Hard to believe this was almost half a decade ago...
I recall the Internet firestorm following the original airing of "JTS." Someone pointed out that bodies contaminated with certain biological agents *cannot* be buried in cemeteries, rather burned. And Arlington Cemetery doesn't bury empty coffins...
"Spare me your sixth grade Michael Moore logic!"
Me too.
shareThe Gunmen died in the season 9 X-Files episode "Jump the Shark", sacrificing themselves to stop a bio-terrorist. They briefly reappeared in the series finale, as ghosts with whom Mulder seemed to have acquired the ability to communicate, along with many other deceased characters.
thanks wiki
Are you sure they were ghosts. i mean Mulder was always a little trippy.
... and BTW you never actually SAW them die.
Hi, I agree. We never see the Gunmen die and if you have the series on dvd, if you watch the documentary in the special features section, Dean Haglund says that maybe their bodies aren't in those coffins. Even if thye did get killed, we still have fan fictions and we can write whatever we want. Alot of fan fiction authors have written stories where the gunmen faked their deaths. Some make sense and others don't. Just read those stories, if you are into them, and what happened on "Jump the Shark" wouldn't upset you so much.
I still get upset about it though and I don't like watching that episode too much, and I also feel that Morris Fletcher had alot to do with their demise, even though he feels bad about their deaths and attends thier funeral.
Some of you people should just let it go. The geeks died, end of story. There should be no coming back.
Actually I'm concerned more about why they where killed off. Was it as retaliation from Chris Carter for Fox having cancelled the Long Gunman Show?
And where the lone Gunman actors ready to go along with this or just did it cause Chris Carter said so?

I just finished watching this episode, and i had heard of it before and i knew what had happened to them in the end.
but i never thought it would be so moving. i wept like a baby.
it ranks up there with "Jurassic Bark" episode of Futurama and the end of Fox and Hound
it was nice to see them in one final hoorah even if it wasn't that good of one. especially jimmy bond.
I think tha tkilling them was the decent thing to do. Not that I didn<t liked them, oposite even, they were awesome. I just mean, how can they get back on tracks after what happened to them in Jump the shark without being cheesy?
shareI'm watching the series after buying them on Ebay. I already know they die thanks to JTS on the XF.
IF they lived on, how would they get the money to publish again? They were totally broke, had to sell their stuff. Unless they all got different jobs, but (quoting Byers) what would they do?
I liked they got a good send off, but Mulder wasn't at the funeral. That peeved me off. He was their best friend.
But shouldn't one coffin be slightly smaller than the others?
It was good to see them in "The Truth" and it seems they are together in a better place.
