I'm currently watching the entire X-Files series and I just finished Season 5 and watched Fight the Future, so I'll be beginning Season 6 probably tomorrow.

X-Files is available on Instant View on Netflilx, so watching them is easy, and while the 2 movies aren't on instant it was easy enough to get them. So since I'm trying to experience the whole X-Files universe, I want to watch The Lone Gunmen series as well. My question is when's the best time to watch the episodes.

I'm assuming it's best to watch after I get done with Season 8 since TLG aired at the same time as Season 8. I already know it was cancelled before season 9 and I've read one of the Season 9 episodes acts as a "closer" for TLG.

So would that be right, to watch after I finish Season 8? Are there any overlapping storylines at all, or do any Season 8 episodes spoil any TLG episodes or vice versea?

There really isn't anything that crosses over. I've watched both series a few times, and what I do is watch xfiles until "Jump the Shark", then watch The Lone Gunmen, then finish up the Xfiles. You can watch them in date order if you'd like, going back and forth from Xfiles to Lone Gunmen, but there really isn't any need to.
